At Vortex, we value the importance in engaging learning opportunities for students interested in STEM and engineering fields. Last week, our team had the privilege of connecting with Year 11-13 students at the Ignite Engineering Camp, a great interactive and inclusive initiative hosted by Youth Without Borders (YWB).
This fully funded camp, ran from 20 to 25 January, 2025 and provided students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to engage and explore STEM pathways – particularly in engineering and manufacturing. Vortex was proud to partner in this initiative which aligns with core values of promoting diversity, inclusivity, and innovation within the manufacturing sector.
One of the key values of this initiative is diversity and inclusivity—Youth without Borders selected students who faced the highest barriers to education, ensuring that those with the greatest need of opportunity can access this invaluable experience. Selected students, either through application or nomination, were given the chance to stay in university accommodation, visit different manufacturing facilities, and engage in activities with real-world scenarios that gave students insight into the world of modern engineering and manufacturing.
Our team presented on a panel discussing the practical application of engineering as well as the resources used, experiences and the future of manufacturing. It was fantastic to engage with students eager to learn about future STEM future career pathways. We firmly believe in the importance of providing engaging learning opportunities for students. Through this experience our team had the opportunity to be a part of a rewarding initiative nurturing the talents and interests of New Zea land students.
