Brett Hawkes graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons I) in 1995. He worked in the solid wood processing industry for nine years, spanning both New Zealand and Australia. Starting as a project engineer, he managed capex applications and the implementation of mechanical handling, processing, and pressure treatment equipment, eventually rising to the role of production manager.
After a year-long hiatus dedicated to his passion for sailing, he transitioned into manufacturing for a decade. Initially, he served as a project manager, focusing on delivering equipment and systems to the wood processing sector. Later, his responsibilities expanded into operations management, overseeing design, project management, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities across the New Zealand and Australian markets.
Following this, he worked in a general/consulting engineering capacity for three years, where he played a pivotal role in establishing a new branch, contributing significantly to the firm’s expansion.
In the last six years, he has returned to the design and manufacturing industry, seeking fresh experiences within the air pollution control sector. His career journey reflects a commitment to engineering excellence and outstanding adaptability in various roles and industries.
